Getting Connected

I'm not ashamed to say that we just had WIFI connection at home yesterday. OMG!! Some of you might say but I think it's pretty normal here in our country that having internet connection at home is not that common. There's still a lot of computer shops here. There's also free WIFI in coffee shops, malls, restaurants, schools, and other public establishments.

I used to think that having internet connection at home would be a blast! I've been thinking of things that i'll do, things that i'll post and most certainly looking forward to a lot of things that I'll know once it's already here. There's pros and cons of having easy access to the internet.

For students, if you have a deadline on a paper or you just need to research on something. You can do it in an hour including editing and printing your work.

For others, it's more of entertainment purposes. Watching the most recent episode of your favorite series that hasn't been shown here in the Philippines. If you would like to post something you have, made, went to or anything. Reading news, articles, download novels or look for recipes.

There's a lot of things you could do on the internet and If I'll go in enumerating all of these, I'm not going to finish this blog. :)

Over the weekend, I noticed that no one is really talking to each other. All of us are busy using our tablets, phones and laptops. There's a lot of things to do right?

When I meet up with friends, almost all of us have internet in our smartphones. We would chat for a bit then everyone becomes silent. Not the awkward type of silence but we're silent because we're browsing on our phones like checking recent posts on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and other social media sites. There's nothing much to talk about because even though you seldom see each  other, you're still updated on what things they are up to because of their posts on the mentioned social media sites.

When I walk around, I see people with their heads bowed and guess what they're doing? You got it. Looking at their devices.

When I'm in the train, bus, fx, or any public transport. Same thing.

There's a a never ending pros that we could think of but I think there's only one con. Personal Interaction is going to be extinct.

Are we going to let this happen? What should we do?

In these fast changing times, I think we should pause and observe the things that have been missing. Your friends and family are there beside you. Have a chat. Kamustahin niyo ang isa't isa. You don't have to wait for them to go far away to realize the I should'ves.

You could spend at least an hour each day free from these. Don't worry it's just 60 minutes. Quality time i best spent unattached to the world.

These devices are nice and very useful but please don't forget that all of these are not permanent. Even us.
